Leslie Steiman Breen

Acro/Leaps & Turns

Leslie Breen has been dancing for thirty-seven years. Her biggest accomplishments in dance include being a member of the BCDP ambassador program at forty-five, Contemporize program at forty-four, winning a scholarship from the Petruzello twins and being asked to perform a solo by a Lady Gaga backup dancer (even though she completely blanked on the choreography and left the room after!). Leslie has been lucky enough to have attended Connecticut College for dance, been a member of the UMASS Dance Team and completed her AAFA, Dance, from Scottsdale Community College under the guidance of Angela Rosencranz. There she was able to take classes from Ann Reinking. She was a certified public school dance educator in Arizona for seven years and owned her own studio for ten years (Dance DynamiX located in Malden, MA). She has choreographed for Lynnfield High School’s musicals and has experience acting at the collegiate level. Leslie has a two hundred hour yoga certification and just completed Acrobatic Arts Certification Module 2. She continues to train in all styles of dance at Zello Dance Studios and elsewhere, always seeking out opportunities to move her body in a way that it doesn’t want to anymore! Leslie is also a biology and special education teacher and the dance club advisor at Greater Lowell Technical High School. She is honored to be joining the Dance Xhilaration family!

Shaela Carpinito

Hip Hop/Contemporary

Shaela started her dance journey outside of Boston, from the North Shore of Massachusetts. This is where she began her dance training at the age of five, at North Reading School of Ballet. She was trained in a variety of styles such as Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary and Lyrical. During her years at NRSB she intensively competed in regional competitions, as well as performed annually in the Nutcracker with the Albany Berkshire Ballet. In her early adulthood, Shaela attended Suffolk University and graduated in 2017 with two degrees, one in Entrepreneurship and one in Marketing. During her time in the city, she started to dance and choreograph for DanceWorks Boston. She choreographed and performed in a total of eight seasons. After DWB, Shaela joined Boston's own professional hip-hop company, Phunk Phenomenon Dance Complex. There she has been performing with the crew in Boston and New York as well as performing in shows, competitions, and other gigs around the city. Shaela has been adapting her previous technical background with her now hip-hop influence, creating a unique style and approach to her movement. Creating and moving is a passion of Shaela's, and she is very excited for what the future holds with her dance and teaching career!

She currently is a part of DrumatiX, a tap and percussive dance company based in the Boston area.
